Terms of service

Libre is a marketplace for renting and buying preloved designer fashion. These terms form the agreement between you and Libre Couture Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, and apply every time you browse, rent, buy, lend or sell.

01Who we are and what Libre does

Libre operates a platform that connects lenders and sellers with renters and buyers. Contracts for the rental or sale of an item are formed between the two members. Libre facilitates payment, logistics, cleaning and dispute resolution but is not the owner of member-listed items.

You must be 18 or over and able to enter a binding contract to hold an account.

02Listing and lending

You may only list items you own and are entitled to rent or sell. Descriptions, sizing, condition grade and photographs must be accurate, and counterfeit goods are prohibited.

Rental listings must show real availability. Once a booking is approved and paid, the dates are committed and the lender must dispatch in time for the start date.

03Commission and payouts

Resale commission is 10% for private sellers and 12% for boutiques. Rental commission is 15%. Commission is deducted from the gross before payout.

Payouts are made to your verified Stripe account on your chosen schedule, after the buyer confirms receipt (resale) or the return has been checked (rental). Identity and bank verification must be complete before funds are released.

04Rental fees, deposits and damage

The rental total shows the daily rate, professional dry cleaning, the damage waiver and any refundable deposit separately at checkout.

Deposits are authorised on your card as a hold, not charged. If the item is returned on time and in the agreed condition, the hold is released in full. Where damage beyond fair wear is agreed or adjudicated, part or all of the hold may be captured.

The damage waiver covers minor accidental damage that professional cleaning can resolve. It does not cover loss, theft, deliberate damage or failure to return.

05Cancellations and returns

Rentals may be cancelled free of charge up to 72 hours before the start date. Later cancellations may be charged in part.

Purchases carry a 14-day return window from delivery, in line with UK consumer law where it applies. Items must be returned unworn and in original condition.

06Disputes and liability

Damage and return disputes are reviewed by the Libre desk using the evidence both members submit. Our decision on the deposit is final within the platform and does not affect your statutory rights.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud. Otherwise, Libre's liability for any transaction is limited to the amount paid through the platform for that transaction.

07Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes fall to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
